Sessho-seki (Killing Stone)
Sessho-seki is a tourist spot characterized by a rugged landscape scattered with rocks and the lingering scent of sulfur.
Located near Nasu Yumoto Onsen, it is a lava formation associated with the legend of the Nine-Tailed Fox and is recognized as a historical site.
The famous haiku poet Matsuo Basho is also said to have visited this area in his work Oku no Hosomichi. Sessho-seki is designated as a nationally recognized scenic spot.
Around Sessho-seki, you can also visit Sentai Jizo, Nasu Onsen Shrine, and the foot baths of Yumoto Onsen, so be sure to stop by.
