Each villa features a private sauna. Enjoy the traditional löyly experience by pouring water over heated sauna stones, creating soothing steam that promotes relaxation and sweating. Aromatic oils are also provided to enhance the calming effect. Unwind your body and mind, and indulge in a truly blissful and restorative escape.
The sauna is a traditional steam-bathing method designed to promote sweating in a hot
room, helping to boost metabolism and support a healthy body. Typically, wooden benches surround a
sauna stove that maintains temperatures between 80–100°C.
At Bettei Shiki, each villa is equipped with a private sauna, allowing you to fully relax and enjoy
the experience without concern for other guests. Unwind and immerse yourself in the ultimate sense
of refreshment and well-being.
After thoroughly sweating in the sauna, you gently cool your body in a cold bath or through an outdoor air break—this is the essence of contrast bathing. Repeating this process warms you from the core, sharpens your senses, and provides a refreshing yet deeply relaxing feeling. Experience the ultimate state of bliss, known in Japan as “totonou.”
Since it helps regulate the autonomic nervous system, it can relieve stress. Additionally, improved blood circulation may lead to detoxification, enhanced metabolism, and other beneficial effects, though results may vary from person to person.
Before enjoying the sauna, start by hydrating well and washing your body and hair to prepare. Inside the sauna, you can relax at your own pace or increase the perceived temperature with löyly (steam from pouring water over hot stones). When you feel ready, step out of the sauna, rinse off your sweat, and relax with an outdoor air bath. Repeat this sauna and cooling process as desired. Unlike traditional saunas, a cold bath is not a must in a Finnish-style sauna, but you can use it between sauna sessions and outdoor air baths if you prefer.
